John 12:26 – “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.”
This year, our church theme is “I Will Serve Thee.” We have challenged our congregation to accept this resolution for 2015:
I – I acknowledge that service to the Lord is my personal responsibility. As spoken by Joshua, I believe it is a choice to be made. I will choose to serve in spite of opposition or obstacles. There can be no debate, only decision.
Will – I will determine to serve! I will accept my calling from God to serve as a lifestyle to be lived to the finish line.
Serve – I understand that my job as a servant is defined by Christ-like humility. I recognize that serving is not a position, but rather humble obedience. I will serve Christ for the purpose of honoring Him, to bring lost souls to the Savior, and to further the cause of Christ.
Thee – My highest motivation in spiritual service will be to please my Heavenly Father. I will live so as to one day hear these words spoken from His lips, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
I recently heard a preacher say, “Everybody needs some sort of significant service for the Lord.” That sentence never left my mind as we prepared for the vision and direction of our church. Everyone needs something! Everyone needs a spot of service. And those who accept this challenge must accept it as a high calling from the Lord Jesus Christ!
As we journey through 2015, I want to encourage you to consider your service for the Lord. More specifically, I would ask you to consider how you can serve through your church! I am so excited about the potential we have here. I truly believe God is preparing us to reach a new level of service for Him, and I would like for you to be part of it.
My wife and I are so excited to take this journey with our church. I hope you will pray, serve, and grow like never before this year. We are praying for you.
